Champions Times 2

The Roadrunners, based in Framingham, won the ZeroGravity Metro West Championship in the Upper Middle School Division on Tuesday, August 19 at Lexington Minuteman High School by defeating Mass Commanders Elite 36 to 33 in a hard-fought final.

Jaden Redd

Jaden is in the 8th grade and has been playing travel basketball for 5 years. His favorite player is Ray Allen. Jaden is the 2012 Knights of Columbus Free Throw District champion. His favorite subject is math.

Jordan Kasongo

Jordan is in 5th grade and has been playing travel basketball for 3 years. His favorite basketball player is Rajon Rond. His favorite position to play is Point Guard.

Jordan Nantchouang

Jordan is in the 8th grade and has been playing travel basketball for one year. He has many favorite basketball players but his number one favorite is Nate Robinson. He looks up to him as somebody who tries his hardest at everything and ends up doing very well. He started playing basketball when he was 10 years old. He moved from Cameroun (a small country located in central Africa) to the United States when he was 7.

Jordan Perry

Jordan is a 6th grader and has been playing travel basketball for 4 years. His favorite team is the LA Lakers. His favorite player is Kobe Bryant. He has also been invited to attend New England Recruiting Reports Elite 75 Stars of Tomorrow camp during the summer of 2014. In June 2014 he attended an invite camp only by Hoopsville New England's Junior Best 40 ( grades 5-8 ) in which he was identified as one of the top Middle School players in the region.

Michael Hildreth

Michael is a 6th grader. His favorite player is Paul Pierce. He enjoys playing basketball, playing video games and going to the beach. He wants to be in the NBA when he grows up.

Anthony Fantasia

Anthony is a 6th grade and has been playing travel basketball for a little over 1 year. His favorite player is Kevin Durant. He has won two free throw shooting contests and a spot shooting contest.

About Our Program

For our ship, the Road Runners basketball team, to be successful, it must not be made up of all scorers, all great defenders, or all awesome rebounders. The team must be made up of players who have different areas of expertise. These areas of expertise include, but are not limited to, rebounding, shooting, dribbling, communicating, playing defense, cheering, knowing the game, knowing the plays, boxing out, screening, and hustling. Each member of the team must possess some ability in each, but it is only the very special player who possesses a vast amount of ability in all of them. That is why there are five people on the floor at a time during the game.

Every player does something better than the rest of the players, and that is what makes that player special to the team. That is the role that player has to fill on the team, to be the best player on the team at one, and only one thing. When called upon, without hesitation, that player has to be ready to perform and show that he is the best player at that skill.

Another aspect of becoming a great team, is the players knowing what their role is on the team - more or less, to see the big picture, to have the ability to see how all the parts/players go together, and why the coach does what he does. For a team to be very good, there must be great communication between each player, and with each player and the coach.

When the stars align, and that special group of players comes along that possesses the skills and attitudes needed to be great, it will be because each player knows why he is special to the team, and they understand how they help their team be great.

We are building that ship with the Road Runners. Once the ship is built, the wins will take care of themselves. We are based in Framingham, MA.
